Bare Escentuals changed their branding name from bareMinerals I.d to simply bareMinerals approximately 2 years ago. Therefore you can be certain that if you buy a bareMinerals product with the branding I.d on it, this will be old stock and sold cheaper than other sellers who sell bareMinerals labelled products. Although I.d products are original products they are OLD STOCK and best avoided. For example the Original bareMinerals Foundation is now sold as an 8g pot with a locking sifter lid to prevent waste. Old I.d stock will be sold in 9g pots without a locking sifter - this pot just has a sticky white label over the top (which can be removed easily, contaminated with and new sticky label placed over). The locking sifter pot does not allow for contamination as once the seal is broken you cannot hide this fact.
In summary - if you wish to buy IN DATE CURRENT STOCK only purchase bareMinerals that do not have I.d on the pots or anywhere on the branding. Remember also that BareMinerals contains no additives or preservatives - therefore once opened, the minerals will have a shelf life like any other natural product. There is nothing in it to preserve it. On this basis I suppose you could argue that if an old I.d product has not been opened then you should be safe - however do you really want to risk it? It is your skin after all. As mentioned previously, as these old pots only have a white sticky label sealing the pot this can be easily removed and replaced without the purchasers knowledge. The locking sifter lid does not allow for contamination.
BareMinerals I.d - AVOID as this will be OLD STOCK and OUT OF DATE. This is how the old pot looks:
AVOID
This is how the new pot looks and is current stock. OK
BareMinerals Original - OK
Hope this helps! I only sell Bare Minerals current stock. I am an authorised stockist of BareMinerals.
